YMCA Scholarships

YMCA aims to promote personal, physical, and social development among its members. As such, it should not be surprising to find that many YMCA chapters offer scholarships to help decrease the cost of a college education. If you are looking for college scholarships, you may want to consider applying for one or more of the YMCA college scholarships. Start with your own YMCA chapter and see if they have any scholarships listed on their website. In addition to that step, you may wish to consider applying for one of the YMCA college scholarships listed below:

Dallas Texas Branch of Cobalt Mortgage Dollars for Scholars Award: This scholarship is open to students who are a member of the Dallas, TX YMCA or must have been a client at Dallas Branch Loan. In order to be eligible, the applicant must be 25 years of age or younger. The scholarship provides two lucky winners with $1,000 to defray the cost of their college education. Two winners are selected each year and students who wish to apply must do so prior to the March 31st deadline. Additional information about this scholarship can be found here.

Salt Lake City Utah and Cobalt Mortgage Dollars for Scholars Award: This scholarship is open to members of the Salt Lake City YMCA or YWCA or clients of the Salt Lake City Branch Loan Office. All applicants are chosen based on a combination of financial need, academic merit, leadership ability, community service, and special circumstances. All applicants must be 25 years old or younger. The scholarship provides an award worth $1,000. Students must apply by the March 31st deadline.

Pellerin Family Snohomish County Award: This scholarship is open to students who are graduating from a high school that is located within Snohomish County. In addition, the applicant must be a member of the YMCA. Only students who plan to obtain a higher education can be considered for this scholarship. However, the student can attend a junior college, a traditional college, or a technical school and still be eligible to receive funding. Students must hold at least a 3.0 grade point average. Each applicant must be able to demonstrate a commitment to community engagement and demonstrate that they have overcome a unique circumstance. This scholarship is worth $1,000.

Kay and Shannon Windermere Real Estate Award: This scholarship is open to students who are members at the YMCA in Seattle. Applicants are selected for this scholarship based on leadership potential, academic merit, demonstrated financial need, community service, and the ability to overcome unusual circumstances. This scholarship is also valued at $1,000.

Several other YMCA chapters also have awards that are worth 41,000. The majority of these require students to be a member of that specific YMCA chapter and be 25 years old or younger at the time of the application. The best way to find out if you might be eligible for this scholarship is to look at the website for the YMCA chapter that is closest to you.
