Students at the University of Texas at Arlington have a number of options when it comes to applying for scholarships. The best way to find scholarships at UTA is to complete the FAFSA application as early as possible. This form will tell you whether you have qualified for any federal or state funding in order to help you attend the University of Texas at Arlington. In addition to scholarships based on your FAFSA results, below is a list of some of the scholarships offered through UTA:
Kewal K. Gupta Scholarship: This scholarship was created for students who are entering UTA for the first time as freshmen. It is open exclusively to students who do not have the financial ability to support their drive to pursue a college education. In order to be eligible, students must graduate within the top quarter of their graduating high school class. In addition, students must achieve at least a 22 on the ACT or a 1050 on the SAT. Students are selected based on demonstrated financial need. While any first time freshman is eligible to apply, the highest priority for this scholarship will be given to first-generation students. Additional information is available at this website.
Alumni Legacy Scholarship: Students who are interested in applying for this scholarship should submit a completed application prior to the June 1st deadline. In order to be eligible, students must be related to a former graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington. This may include a sibling, child, parent, or grandparent who has attended the university. Only students who hold at least a 3.0 grade point average and who have demonstrated strong academic achievement, leadership skills, and community engagement will be considered for this award. Additional information is available at this website.
MAV Scholarship: This is one place where students can go to complete one application in order to be considered for a variety of internal scholarships. This includes departmental scholarships that are only open to students who are pursuing specific majors. Both new and returning students at the University of Arlington can use this system. Some of the awards may require additional documentation, such as letters of recommendation or additional essays. Students who are interested in learning more about this and/or students who are ready to complete the general application form can do so at this link.
Entering Freshman Scholarship and Entering Transfer Scholarships: These scholarships are open to first time freshmen and new transfer students who plan on enrolling at UTA. Both of these scholarships require that the recipient plan to enroll on a full time basis for both fall and spring semesters. In addition, students are required to take a minimum number of courses each year in order to make the expected progress towards their undergraduate degree. The exact value of the scholarships depends of funds available and as such, the amount of the scholarship and the number of awards offered may vary each year. These scholarships are only offered in fall semester of each year.
