The Tennessee Hope Scholarships have helped thousands of students afford a college education. These awards are provided through the state government and support students who are TN residents. In order to be considered for this scholarship, students must meet a number of different eligibility criteria. The TN Hope Scholarships are renewable provided that students maintain eligibility. In order to be eligible to renew these awards, students must hold at least a 2.75 grade point average after they have reached the 24 and 48 hour milestones?

The exact amount of the scholarship varies, depending on the type of institution that the student plans to attend. For example, students who are in their first two years of study at a two-year college can earn up to $1,500 to defray the cost of their tuition. Students who plan to attend a four-year institution (or a two-year institution where they live on-campus) have a slightly different fee structure. For these students, during the first two years of the program an award of up to $1,750 is available. During the last two years of their program, the maximum award increases to $2,250. This amount only reflects what is available for students who intend to enroll on a full-time basis.

The funding for the HOPE Scholarship will stop under certain conditions. The first is if the applicant has reach the five-year maximum enrollment time. In general, students who are residents of TN and who have not been enrolled for at least two years are eligible for consideration. In order to meet the nontraditional requirement, all applicants must be at least 25 years of age or older.
