Every year, Taco Bell gives out a number of scholarships to eligible college students. The scholarship aims to attract dreamers and entrepreneurs who wish to share their passion. As such, the evaluation criteria focus more on having a clear passion and a desire to pursue this passion as opposed to academic merit.
In order to be eligible for this scholarship, students are required to meet a variety of eligibility criteria. First, the applicant is required to be between the ages of 16 years old to 24 years old. In addition, the applicants must be a resident of the United States. Students must intend to enroll in an accredited college or university, trade school, or technical program after completion of their high school diploma. Students who are less than 18 years old must obtain written permission from their guardian in order to apply for the award. Lastly, employees are not eligible to apply for this award, but must apply to the separate employees-only scholarship.
Winners of the Live Mas Scholarship are chosen twice per year. The first phase of the program occurs during the winter season. This requires applicants to submit their application sometime between November 11th and January 31st. After this time, the selection period occurs. Thus, during the month of February, reviewers are selecting their top choices for the award. Sometime in early march, the recipients of the award will be contacted. All recipients will receive their award through a Scholarship Management Company, which will submit the funds directly to the student’s institution.
The second phase of the program occurs during the spring. For students who wish to be considered for the spring phase, an application muse be submitted between March 7th to May 27th. After this submission period and continuing throughout the end of July, the review committee finalizes their top candidates. All applicants will be notified of their standing at the end of July. By mid-August, funding will be dispensed to the Taco Bell Scholarship Management Company which will take care of getting the funds to the student’s home institution. Students who apply for phase one and who are not selected are automatically considered in the second phase, without the need to apply again. Students can find additional information about the selection process at this website.
