Florida Academic Scholarship & Florida Medallion Scholars Program
There are several different scholarships in Florida that are directly supported by the government of the state. These government funded opportunities are given to students from the region that want to pursue a degree but find the financial burden a bit extensive to undertake. Among these scholarships are the Florida Academic Scholarship and the Florida Medallion Scholars program, both of which will be discussed here. The Florida Academic Scholarship is given to those individuals who demonstrate financial need, based upon the FFA—a criteria which extends to the Florida Medallion Scholars Program as well. All applicants must meet a minimum GPA requirement and testing scores that demonstrate their ability to learn and grow in the classroom as well.
These state funded grants have criteria which can change annually, that are why students wishing to apply for this or another state-funded grant are encouraged to fully read and understand the handbook that accompanies them through the application process. This handbook can be downloaded here, and outlines the eligibility requirements that must be met as well as defines the thousands of dollars in aid that is given via these scholarships in Florida annually. All students that feel that they meet said need and each additional requirement are encouraged to apply.
