Equestrian riding is more than just a sport. It is a true art. Those that navigate a horse through the different obstacles, challenges, jumps, and trots show a great deal of poise and grace via the movements of the animal. Equestrians spend countless hours training for competitions and creating a relationship with the animal upon which they ride. For those that know, love, and understand this art form, there is more than just ribbons and awards that can be the result of their efforts. There are equestrian scholarships specifically for those in this field, too. The following explains more about these financial opportunities and where to go to find all of the details you need to apply.
American Connemara Pony Society Scholarship
Those that compete in equestrian sports, like so many activities that require years of practice in order to master, often begin at a young age. There are several different societies and groups that are specifically dedicated to the development of these young riders. One such organization is the junior division of the American Connemara Pony Society. Those junior members that participate in Connemara riding and are interested in earning money for college can apply via this one of the equestrian scholarships. In order to be eligible, riders must be eighteen years of age or younger as of January 1st of the application year and they must be able to provide proof of their age and riding abilities. An application must be completed as well which can be found here along with all other details.
American Shetland Pony Club Scholarship
As with many equestrian scholarships, the American Shetland Pony Club is breed specific. That is to say that this scholarship is focused on rewarding those who are well-versed with riding a specific animal: the American Shetland Pony. For those that wish to apply, there is an application and criteria that must be met—which can be found here. Upwards of one-thousand dollars in rewards, those that want to apply must provide a written essay on why they love the breed of animal they ride and must also demonstrate proof age and riding history. They must also demonstrate communicate involvement as well. For junior riders, this is a great way to find monies for educational goals in the near future or down the road.
American Hackney Horse Society Scholarship
Another breed specific member of the equestrian scholarships family is via the American Hackney Horse Society. The American Hackney Horse Society is focused on promoting riding of and explaining the beauty of the American Hackney Horse. It is no wonder, then, that this organization offers a scholarship specific to its riders. The American Hackney Horse Society Scholarship offers up to twenty-five hundred dollars in financial assistance for those that meet all eligibility and application requirements. To apply, an application must be completed and proof of riding history established. Further, explanation of financial need as well as love of the animal, equestrianism, and more must also be demonstrated to the satisfaction of the scholarship committee.
