The founder of the chain established a program for team members in 1973, as a way to encourage them to go further in their education. The company discontinued that scholarship in 1996 and began offering the Scholarship for Leadership. This award places more emphasis on the leadership abilities and community service volunteerism of the employees.
Chick-fil-A’s Family Enrichment and Leadership Program helps to shape winning students and young adults to become successful in life. Their foundation provides a number of programs that focus on creating strong young people through enriching marriages, supporting families and providing leadership programs.

Leadership Scholarship Program
As a company, Chick-fil-A has awarded over $30 million in education aid to over 30,000 team members. They attend school at over 3,000 universities and colleges throughout the United States. They are one of the most involved companies in helping their team members to become successful.
To be eligible for this scholarship, you must have:
- Completed high school
- Enrolled in college
- Been active in your community and school
- Demonstrated a good work ethic
- Shown strong ability to lead
- A good sense of teamwork
- A desire to be successful

Truett Cathy Scholar Award
This Chick-fil-A scholarship awards $1,000 each to recipients of the Chick-fil-A award every year. This program has already awarded over $400,000 to students. There is additional information available on their website.
WinShape Foundation Scholarship
The Chick-fil-A founder, S. Truett Cathy, established this foundation in 1984. The college program was formed at the same time. In the beginning, their program offered $10,000 for Berry College students in Rome, GA.
The original funding was utilized to teach moral lifestyles, community service and leadership potential. Chick-fil-A helps in providing scholarships of $32,000 or less, which are used toward tuition for students who are eligible to attend Berry College.
Each year, the WinShape Chick-fil-A scholarship awards $4,000 to students at Berry College, along with training in Christian community and leadership. The fund has, over the years, awarded millions in merit-based funding to more than one thousand future leaders across the United States. More information is available at the company’s website.
