Educational Foundation for Women in Accounting

The Educational Foundation for Women in Accounting (EFWA) seeks to inspire and encourage women by advancing their accounting careers. It provides numerous scholarships at all levels, including undergraduate level, graduate level and postgraduate level, if you would like to pursue your accounting degree.

EFWA sponsors Women in Need (WIN) and Women in Transition (WIT) scholarships for women over 40 who are primary income-earners for their family, but who still wish to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in accounting.

You may be eligible for these scholarships if the items below apply:

  • For WIN: You must complete your sophomore year in accounting.
  • For WIT: You must enroll as an incoming freshman and pursue your accounting Bachelor’s degree.

The benefits of these scholarships are impressive.

For the WIN Scholarships: $2,000 per year for two years is awarded.

For the WIT Scholarships: Winner will receive up to $16,000 over a period of four years.


Renate W. Chasman Scholarships for Women over 40

The Chasman Scholarships are $1,000 awards. You must apply in November for the awarding of the scholarships in May, and you can only receive the awards once.

To be eligible, you must be:

  • A woman
  • An undergrad senior or a grad student at an educational institution that is accredited
  • Receiving your degree not before May of the year of the competition
  • Performing research in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) disciplines at the Brookhaven National Laboratory

Sophie Greenstadt Scholarships for Mid-Life Women

If you are a woman over 35 and a resident or attend college in the greater Los Angeles, California area, you may qualify for this scholarship. It covers women in Ventura and Orange counties.

The Los Angeles Chapter of the National Council of Jewish Women sponsors these scholarships for women over 40. You may be any college level student, and it doesn’t matter if you are married or single, or whether you have children or not.

The Greenstadt awards pay up to $1,000, and you must submit an essay to apply. The essay should describe your goals, and the ways in which you intend to work to achieve them. You should show a financial need, as well. Their website includes more helpful information.


Osher Re-entry Scholarships for Women over 40

Osher Re-entry Scholarships

If you are between 25 and 50 years of age, and have not attended college for five years or more, you may qualify for this scholarship. You must be enrolled already at an Osher scholarship member college, in an undergrad program. You must demonstrate that you have financial needs and commit to completing your degree while maintaining a good academic record. This award covers tuition only.

AAUW Career Development Grants & Scholarships

American Association of University Women scholarship

The American Association of University Women (AAUW) offers career development scholarships for women over 40 who wish to advance in their career, re-enter the workforce or change careers. This is accomplished through attending college, participating in training and attending institutes of professional development.

You may be eligible for this scholarship if:

  • You are a female permanent resident or United States citizen.
  • You hold a non-honorary bachelor’s degree.
  • You plan to participate in activities and courses that are necessary for advancement in your career.
  • You plan on enrolling in one of these degree programs:


  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a new field of study for you
  • Technical school
  • Certification program
  • Professional degrees
  • Master’s degree

You must be enrolled or attending a degree program at a two-year or four-year US, accredited university or college. You may also be attending a technical school, as long as it is licensed and accredited by the Department of Education.

The Talbot’s Scholarships for Women over 40

Talbot’s Scholarships for Women over 40

Women who are age 20-60 and who live in the US or Canada can apply for this scholarship.

In order to be eligible:

  • You must have a high school diploma or GED earned before September 2001.
  • You must be attending an undergrad program at a college that is accredited.
  • You must need at least 24 more credit hours to complete your undergrad degree.

Scholarships from Talbot are worth between $10,000 and $30,000. In addition, winners receive a resume eKit and Talbot’s gift card.


Olive Lynn Salembier Memorial Reentry Scholarships for Women over 40

These scholarships award $1,500 to selected candidates. They are designed to help women returning to school after a time period spent away from college.

To be eligible for this award:

  • You must be a re-entry or non-traditional student enrolled in engineering in any college year, including graduate school.
  • You must have a GPA of 3.0 or better if you are an upper-class applicant.
  • You must be accepted into a computer science bachelor’s degree program at an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) approved school. Alternately, you can be already enrolled in an ABET accredited bachelor’s program in engineering or computer science.
  • You must have been out of school for two years or more, and out of the technology or engineering workforce for the same time.
  • You do not need any experience or education in engineering to qualify.


College Scholarships Foundation Scholarships for Women over 40

This foundation offers various scholarship types, including scholarships for deserving women returning to their education goals. The benefits are $500 in annual awards.

To be eligible:

  • You must be a woman and a United States citizen.
  • You must maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA.
