Students who plan to attend LSU often wonder what scholarships they might be eligible to apply for. Below is a selected list of scholarships that are available to LSU students. In addition to the scholarships below, applicants may want to consider applying for funding through private scholarships. Another way to obtain funding for LSU is to complete the FAFSA application, which can quickly tell students whether they will qualify for any federal or state financial aid.

Stamps Scholarship: This scholarship is open to incoming students at LSU. In order to be eligible, applicants are required to be accepted to Ogden Honors College by the November 15th deadline. In addition, applicants must hold at least a 2.5 grade point average and meet a minimum score on their standardized test (i.e., 33 on the ACT). There are only ten of these scholarships available each year and this is the most prestigious scholarship offered at LSU. It covers the complete cost of attending LSU for up to eight semesters, regardless of whether the applicant is a LA resident or an out-of-state resident. In addition, students can earn up to $1,550 in additional funding each year if they partake in a specialized research program. Tiger Alumni Legacy Scholarship: This scholarship is open to students who live out-of-state. In order to be eligible, the applicant must have a parent who graduated from LSU. If the applicant is eligible, they will receive a 10% discount on the cost of out-of-state tuition for up to four years. The exact amount of this award will vary by year and will depend on the current cost of LSU tuition. This award can be used in conjunction with other internal scholarships.

Flagship Scholars Award: This scholarship is open to students who hold high standardized exam scores and at least a 3.0 high school grade point average. Students who are chosen for this scholarship will receive either a resident award (which is valued at $2,500) or a non-resident award (which is valued at $20,500) per year. These awards are renewable provided that the student remains eligible. Students also can earn up to $1,550 extra per year if they participate in a specialized research program offered by the university.

Texas Tigers Scholarship: This scholarship is open exclusively to residents from the State of Texas. In order to be eligible, applicants must have at least a 26 on the ACT and a 3.0 grade point average. The award provides eligible students with a reduction in tuition for up to eight semesters, which is valued at 20% off the current rate of out-of-state tuition.

Distinguished Freshman Award: This scholarship provides up to $2,000 in additional funding per year to students who are National Merit Finalists. In addition, students can earn an additional $1,550 each year if they enter the President’s Future Leaders in Research Program which is offered through LSU each year.
